About StormCruzzer

StormCruzzer LLC was started in December 2013 as a private storm chasing company. Since then, we have grown into the private forecasting and student outreach sectors, with a heavy focus on safety and communication with the public. Our mission is to seek out and document some of the worlds most dangerous storms all while communicating weather safety to the public.

Travis Cruz
Founder/President/Meteorologist

Travis Cruz was born in Poquoson, Virginia, and grew up in the Tidewater region, on the water.  He has a B.S. in Meteorology from  Virginia Tech and the founder of StormCruzzer, LLC. He's loved extreme weather since a young age but really became hooked after his front row seat to Hurricane Isabel's wrath in 2003.  Since then, he's made it his life goal to study and photograph extreme weather phenomena. He's designed (and is still designing) the StormCruzzer, a chase vehicle to help aid conducting storm documentation and research in a safe manner. Outside of meteorology, his interests include sports, learning, off-roading and anything else adventurous.

Alex Thornton
Meteorologist/Photographer

Alex Thornton was born in Radford, Virginia and grew up in Franklin County. Weather has always been a part of his life and interest. He fondly remembers checking out the same "tornado" book out of the library for a few months straight while in elementary school (just to gaze over the pictures).   He graduated form the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the spring of 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology, including minors in Geography and Biology. When not chasing storms, he enjoys all outdoor activities, playing sports of all kinds, and woodworking.
